Integrated emailing

Email addicts do have a reason to rejoice with Gmail coming round with a bang with a host of features that will not only help us in managing & organizing our email accounts but also our email accounts with other providers like yahoo, hotmail, etc.
One of the best thing is that it has evolved with a much cleaner interface giving users the option to customize their account & even the ads served in a variety of ways.Ads can be customized in a very flexible way under the "Web clips" section in the "settings".
Emails can now be sent from a single gmail account by importing all your email account addresses under the "Add another email address" section under the "Accounts" tab of "Settings".You can also access the emails received in your other email accounts from your gmail account by adding your concerned email address under "Get mail from other accounts" section under "Accounts" tab.But the drawback is that you can't do it for the accounts which are not POP3 enabled. All gmail accounts are by default POP3 enabled but the free accounts with yahoo, hotmail & some other email service providers do not provide with this service.
To avail the above mentioned feature one more thing needs to be done.POP status should be enabled. Then you can suitably configure your email clients to get all your emails downloaded to your email clent like Outlook, etc.
The most commendable feature of gmail is the gmail labs which has introduced 12 new gmail features early this month. They are :
  • Quick Links : Adds a box to the left column that gives you 1-click access to any bookmarkable URL in Gmail. You can use it for saving frequent searches, important individual messages, and more.
  • Superstars : Adds additional star icons. After enabling this feature, you can choose which icons you wish to use in the "General" Settings page.
  • Pictures in chat : You can see your friends' profile pictures when you chat with them.
  • Fixed width font : Adds an option to the reply dropdown menu that lets you view a message in fixed width font.
  • Mouse gestures : Use your mouse to navigate with gestures. Hold right-click and move the mouse left to go to a previous conversation, move it right to go to the next conversation, and move up to go back to the inbox view. Works best on Windows.
  • Signature tweaks : Places your signature before the quoted text in a reply, and removes the "--" line that appears before signatures. Can't use this and the "Random signature" Labs feature at the same time.
  • Random signature : Rotates among random quotations for your email signature. Can't use this and the "Signature tweaks" Labs feature at the same time.
  • Custom date formats : Adds options to the general settings page allowing the date and time format to be changed independent of language. For example, you can use a 24-hour clock (14:57) or show dates with the day first (31/12/07).
  • Muzzle : Conserves screen real estate by hiding your friends' status messages.
  • Old Snakey : Kick it old school with Old Snakey! Enable keyboard shortcuts and hit '&' from the main page to play a game of snake.
  • Email Addict : Lets you take a break from email and chat by blocking the screen for fifteen minutes and making you invisible in chat.
  • Hide Unread Counts : Hides the unread counts for inbox, labels, etc.
If (when) a Labs feature breaks, and you're having trouble getting into your account, there's an escape hatch -- just go to http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0 and Labs will be temporarily disabled.
Happy gmailing..!!
