The latest offering from Apple - i phone 3G has created ripples in the gizmo world. With price the greatest factor in bottlenecking the sales of first i phone release.Apple not only seems to have made a great comeback in this aspect but also in its features. But there seems to be some fishy strategies lying deep down that must be gulped down before venturing for the buyout.
The first question that comes to our mind after Mr. Steve Jobs unveiled the so claimed high speed i phone 3G at Apple's World-Wide Developer's Conference in San Francisco is that how can it be so cheap at just $199 for an 8 GB model.Well, Apple seems to have learned from the hoards of glitches from the first i phone release.
Apple is now planning to target a wider market with i phone than even that has been created with i pod.As of now it seems tough as an 8 GB i phone wouldn't just click for most of the music & video enthusiast.Apple has not discretely announced any stuff about integration of i pod with Mac book that may be on the cards to boost Mac book sales. Also, it's still not legible as to when the 32 GB & 64Gb version of the phone will be released.Even if it is released in the near future cost would be a big hindrance in addressing a wider market domain.
With additions like GPS, support for 3G networks that will ensure 2.8 times faster network loading as claimed by Apple & a more sleek looks it is sure to give a close call to arch rivals like Blackberry & Treo.Especially its features are quite close to Blackberry Bold to be unveiled soon. So, it will be worth watching how Blackberry hits back especially on the pricing front.Check out the video below for details.
The i phone 3G may attract a lot of buyers due to being placed in a low cost segment of smart phones but things may be deceptive as the cost-reduction techniques that Steve Jobs men have employed may not sound lucrative to many.Taking for instance, the plastic casing. Many may feel it to be a more plasticky affair that may lack the old style & lustre of a mesmerizing black metal jacket of the original i phone.
Also one should also keep an eye on the maintenance cost.Apple as of now is providing with a two year's activation. The data services cost with i phone 3G will also mount up by 10$/month to around 30$/month that is sure to give a burning hole in our pocket if not many worthy feature are added by AT & T as it is not going to share revenues on i phone services any more.
All these factors would be massively influence the sales & market reputation of the i phone 3G & it will be much more evident when it will be made available to the public after July 11 when it would be made available to the public & thereafter as it sails through the network of 70 odd countries by the year end as assured by Apple.
